Larry:

HI I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. WELCOME TO TREE TALK. WELL THERE’S BASICALLY FIVE PARTS OF THE ANATOMY. THERE’S THE OUTER BARK, THE INNER BARK OR THE FLOAM, THE CAMBIUM CELL LAYER, THE SAP WOOD, AND THE HARD WOOD. THE OUTER BARK, THAT PROTECTS THE TREE FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD. THE INNER BARK, OR THE FLOAM, IS THE PIPELINE THROUGH WHICH FOOD IS PASSED TO THE REST OF THE TREE. THE CAMBIUM LAYER, IS THE GROWING PART OF A TREE. IT ANNUALLY PRODUCES NEW BARK AND NEW WOOD. SAP WOOD, IT’S THE PIPELINE FOR WATER MOVING UP TO THE LEAVES AND FINALLY THE HARD WOOD IS THE CENTRAL SUPPORTING PILLARS OF THE TREE. ALTHOUGH IT’S DEAD, IT WILL NOT DECAY OR LOSE STRENGTH WHILE THE OUTTER LAYERS ARE IN TACT. OF THE FIVE PARTS OF THE ANATOMY OF THE TREE, THE OUTER BARK IS PROBABLY THE MOST THE MOST IMPORTANT BECA– USE IT PROTECTS THE TREE. ON THE INSIDE IT PROTECTS YOU KNOW, MOISTURE, HEAT FROM GETTING INTO TO THE INSIDE OF THE TREE AND IT PROTECTS FROM INSECTS AND EVERYTHING FROM GETTING INTO THAT. THAT’S IT FOR THIS EDITION OF TREE TALK. UNTIL NEXT TIME, I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. THANKS FOR LISTENING.
