Larry:
OAK TREES THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE OAK WILT ARE BLACK, RED, PIN OAK, AND SCARLET OAK. THE DISEASE IS ACTUALLY CA– USED BY A BEATLE AND IF YOU, IF YOU TRIM ON A TREE BETWEEN APRIL AND SEPTEMBER THE CUT YOU MAKE ACTUALLY PUTS OUT A, THERE’S A FUNGUS, BUT IT ACTUALLY PUTS OUT AN AROMA, LIKE AN ODOR, WHICH DRAWS THESE BEATLES TO YOUR TREE AND THEN WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR TREE, THEY CREATE THE DAMAGE TO YOUR TREE. THEY ACTUALLY CLOSE OFF THE VASCULAR SYSTEM OF THE TREE. AND THAT’S WHERE YOUR NUTRIENTS ARE GOING UP AND DOWN THROUGH THE TREE. WELL, WHEN THEY DISRUPT THAT, OBVIOUSLY IF THERE ARE NO NUTIRENTS GOING TO THE TREE, THE LEAVES ARE GOING TO WILT AND THE LIMBS ARE GOING TO DIE AND ULTIMATELY YOU HAVE TO CUT THE TREE DOWN. ANOTHER THING IS, IF YOUR NEIGHBOR GETS OAK WILT, AND YOU DON’T TREAT YOUR TREE, THERE’S A POSSIBILITY IT’S GOING TO COME OVER TO YOURS… ESPECIALLY IF THE ROOTS ARE TOUCHING. TEMPERATURE HAS QUITE A BIT TO DO WITH IT. ACTUALLY THE HOT AND DRY TEMPERATURES MAKE THE DISEASE PROGRESS, BUT THE DISEASE IS ACTUALLY TRANSMITTED MORE BY COOL AND MOIST CONDITIONS. HOT AND HUMID PROGRESSES IT BUT THEN WHEN IT COOLS OFF A LITTLE BIT AND THEN WE HAVE RAIN, THAT’S WHAT MAKES IT MOVE.
