Larry:
HI I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. WELCOME TO TREE TALK. NURTURING NATURE IN YOUR BACKYARD, I MEAN TREES IN YOUR BACKYARD NEED TO HAVE SUNLIGHT, WATER. THEY NEED NUTRIENTS. TOO MUCH OF THIS OR TOO LITTLE OF THIS CAN CA– USE PLANTS STRESS. SEVERE STRESS CAN WEAKEN A TREES RESISTANCE TO DISEASE AND INSECTS. EARLY SYMPTOMS, THEY USUALLY START IN THE SPRING AND THEY CONTINUE THROUGH THE GROWING SEASON. THINGS TO LOOK FOR WOULD BE DYING BRANCHES IN THE UPPER PART OF YOUR CANOPY, THAT WE CALL THAT DIE BACK. YELLOWING OF THE FOLAGE, OR FLAGGING THAT CAN BE A SIGN OF DISEASE OR ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS. EVERYTHING IS NOT ALWAYS A DISEASE, IT COULD BE FROM DROUGHT, IT CAN BE FROM HEAT. THE OTHER THING THAT’S KIND OF COMMON IS LEAF DROP OR LEAF SPOTS AND THAT WOULD BE A FOLIAR DISEASE. THEY SHOULD PROBABLY CALL A CERTIFIED ARBORIST TO COME OUT AND YOU KNOW TAKE A LOOK, TAKE AN ASSESSMENT OF THEIR TREE SO THEY CAN FIND OUT IF THERE’S ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO TREAT IT. IF YOU HAVE A TOPIC YOU WOULD LIKE US TO CONSIDER FOR A FUTURE EPISODE,EMAIL IT TO B TRESS QUINCY AT G MAIL DOT COM. WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
