IT’S TIME FOR TREE TALK… YOUR WEEKLY NINETY SECONDS OF TOTALLY TREES RADIO PRESENTED BY BRUMBAUGH TREE SERVICE LLC.
Larry:
HI. I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. WELCOME TO TREE TALK. WELL THE FIRST THING WOULD BE, STARTS EARLY, WHEN YOU’RE PLANTING A TREE, TRY TO PLANT STRONG SPECIES OF TREES. SOME OF YOUR TREES THAT ARE FAIRLY BRITTLE FOR ICE WOULD BE YOUR ELMS, WILLOW, BOXELDERS, HACKBERRIES, POPLAR TREES, SILVER MAPLES, SO YOU MIGHT TRY TO GO TO A HEARTIER, STRONGER TYPE OF TREE THAN THOSE SPECIES. WE DON’T GET ICE ALL THE TIME BUT WHEN WE DO GET ICE, THOSE TREES ARE THE ARE THE ONES THAT GET DAMAGED MORE. ONE OF THE PRECAUTIONS WOULD BE TO HAVE THE DEAD, DISEASED, AND DAMAGED LIMBS AND STUFF REMOVED FROM YOUR TREE, BEFORE THE ICE GETS HERE. ALSO TREES THAT ARE LEANING, SOMETIMES THAT INDICATES THAT IT COULD HAVE A WEAK ROOT SYSTEM AND YOU KNOW IF YOU GET ICE ON THE TREE, THE TREES GOING TO TOPPLE OVER. YOU MIGHT LOOK FOR LIMBS THAT ARE HANGING OVER YOUR HO– USE CLOSE. THAT WAY IF THEY DO BREAK, IF YOU HAVE THEM TRIMMED OFF, BEFORE THEY BROKE OFF YOU WOULDN’T HAVE PROPERTY DAMAGE OVER YOUR HO– USE OR OVER YOUR GARAGE OR YOU KNOW WHATEVER STRUCTURE IS UNDER IT. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU CAN LOOK FOR WOULD BE CRACKS IN THE TRUNK, HOLLOW AGE AND DECAYED TREES HAVE BIG CAVATIES IN THEM. THAT’S IT FOR THIS WEEKS EDITION OF TREE TALK. UNTIL NEXT TIME, I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. THANKS FOR LISTENING.
