Larry:
HI. I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. WELCOME TO TREE TALK. YEAH, I MEAN SPRINGTIME COMING, YOU KNOW, ALL THE INSECTS AND DISEASES START BECA– USE YOU HAVE MOISTURE AND YOU HAVE HUMIDITY AND ALL THEM PLUS INSECTS, YOU KNOW, THEY’VE BEEN HIBERNATING OVER THE WINTER. NOW THEY’RE GETTING READY TO COME OUT FOR A BIG FEAST. I GUESS A DIFFERECE IN DISEASE WOULD BE AND DISORDERS WOULD BE, DISEASE IS CA– USED BY AN INFECTIOUS OR A LIVING AGENT, SUCH AS, FUNGI, VIRUS, OR BACTERIA. DISORDERS ARE CA– USED BY NONLIVING AGENTS SUCH AS, NUTIRIENT DIFFICIENCES, TEMPERATURES EXTREMES FROM THE OUTSIDE, VANDALISM FROM LIKE A CAR RUNNING INTO OR, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE PULLING UP BARK AND STUFF, OR POLLUTANTS. BASICALLY THERE’S THREE TYPES OF INSECTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK ON TREES AND PLANTS. YOU HAVE CHEWING, WHICH WOULD BE BEETLES, CATERPILLARS. THEY SYMPTOMS YOU WOULD SEE ON YOUR TREE WOULD BE DISCOLORATION, LIKE UNEVEN EDGES ON YOUR LEAVES. THE OTHER KIND OF, THE SECOND TYPE OF INSECT IS SUCKING INSECT LIKE A APHIDS, OR A MEALYBUG AND THE SYMPTOMS OF THAT ON YOUR TREE WOULD BE DISCOLORATION, DROOPING OR WILTING OF THE LEAVES. AND THE THIRD TYPE OF INSECT WOULD BE BORING, LIKE THE BARK BEETLES THAT LIKE GO AFTER THE OAK TREES FOR LIKE THE OAK WILT AND ALSO THE EMERALD ASH BORERS. THAT’S IT FOR THIS WEEKS EDITION OF TREE TALK. UNTIL NEXT TIME, I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. THANKS FOR LISTENING.
