Larry:

ABOUT BUYING AND TAKING CARE OF THEIR CHRISTMAS TREES. FIRST THING YOU NEED TO DO IS TO LOOK FOR FRESH CUT TREES NOT ONES THAT HAVE BEEN CUT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. IT’S ANOTHER GOOD THING TO TRY TO BUY FROM A LOCAL OR FROM A TREE FARM BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT THE PEOPLE CUT THEM HERE. THEY HAVEN’T BEEN SHIPPED FROM TWO OR THREE STATES AWAY SO THEY DIDN’T HAVE TO CUT THE WAY EARLY JUST TO SHIP THEM HERE. SO THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU GET IT HOME, YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO CUT OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUNK OF THE TREE BECAUSE IT’S ALREADY SEALED UP WHERE IT WON’T UPTAKE ANY WATER. JUST CUT A HALF-INCH TO AN INCH OFF OF IT. NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU KEEP YOUR TREES WATERED. SOME TREES CAN ACTUALLY TAKE A GALLON OF WATER IN A TWENTY-FOUR HOUR PERIOD. ANOTHER THING YOU WANT TO DO IS TO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR TREES AWAY FROM HEAT. USE LOW TEMPERATURE LIGHTS. DON’T PUT IT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR HEAT REGISTER OR CLOSE TO A FIREPLACE WHERE IT’S GOING TO DRY OUT A WHOLE LOT. ANOTHER THING SOME PEOPLE BUY A TREE THAT’S LIKE IN A CONTAINER AND THEY WANT TO PLANT IT IN THE SPRING. THAT’S A GOOD THING TO THINK ABOUT BUT THE STATISTICS ON THAT SHOW THAT MOST OF THE TREES THAT YOU HAVE INDOORS OVER THE WINTER LIKE THAT, WHEN YOU PUT THEM OUT IN THE SPRING, THEY WON’T SURVIVE.

I’D LIKE TO WISH EVERYBODY A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM BRUMBAUGH TREE SERVICE.
