Larry:

HI. I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. WELCOME TO TREE TALK. WELL THE FIRST THING THAT YOU SHOULD DO WHEN YOU BUY YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE IS MAKE SURE IT’S A FRESHLY CUT TREE, NOT ONE THAT’S BEEN CUT FOR THREE OR FOUR WEEKS ALREADY AND SHIPPED TO YOUR. IF YOU SEE A LOT OF NEEDLES ON THE GROUND AROUND THE TREE THAT ARE KINDA DRIED UP ALREADY THAT MIGHT BE A SIGN THAT THE TREES ALREADY BEEN CUT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. WHEN YOU GET IT HOME, THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO IS MAKE A NEW CUT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TREE SO THAT THE TREE WILL BE ABLE TO UPTAKE THE WATER BECA– USE WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT CLOSES OFF THE VASCULAR SYSTEM ON THAT TREE AFTER IT’S BEEN SITTING AWHILE. SO YOU WANT TO FRESHLY CUT IT SO IT WILL UPTAKE THE WATER. ALSO AN AVERAGE TREE TAKES ONE GALLON OF WATER IN TWENTY FOUR HOURS. THAT’S A REALLY IMPORTANT THING. MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS HAVE WATER IN THE TREE STAND. YOU CAN ALSO KEEP YOUR TREE AWAY FROM LIKE THE FIREPLACE WHERE IT’S GONNA GET MORE HEAT AND IT’S GOING TO DRY OUT QUICKER OR HEAT DUCKS. ANOTHER THING IS YOU CAN — USE LED LIGHTS, WHICH ARE NOT AS HOT AS THE C9 LIGHTS, WHICH ARE THE OLD, BIGGER BALLS. JUST SOME OF THE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF YOUR TREE AND MAKE IT SAFE FOR YOUR HO– USE DURING CHRISTMAS SO IT DOESN’T HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CATCH ON FIRE. I WOULD LIKE TO TELL ALL MY CUSTOMERS OUT THERE, HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY. THAT’S IT FOR THIS EDITION OF TREE TALK. UNTIL NEXT TIME, I’M LARRY BRUMBAUGH. THANKS FOR LISTENING.
